Maritime plunges into SailSandpoint retreat

Academy retreat provides sailing, kayaking and survival suit practice

Senior Madison Davenport and sophomore Cyrus Ogle leap into freezing Lake Washington water to prepare for an upcoming survival suit race. On Oct. 3 students of the Ballard Maritime Academy practiced sailing, paddle boarding, kayaking, as part of the Ballard Maritime Academy retreat at SailSandpoint. Other important maritime activities included righting a sailboat which has been flipped and taking over boats by force, which is popular among the academy’s pirates.
